Great Things Happen Because YOU Care!

Below are various ways you can help make a difference in the lives of women and children escaping violence and abuse

 Make a Monetary Donation

Your financial donation to The Denise House provides hope and the possibility of a future free of violence to hundreds of women and children each year.  There are a few ways you can make your donation CLICK HERE to find out how.

In-Kind Donations

Although we are grateful for in-kind donations and your generosity, we DO NOT accept gently used donations of any kind. For gently used donations please consider donating to Mission Thrift Store located at 1300 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.  We have a partnership with this store that allows our clients to access clothing and small household items from their location FREE of charge.  They can be reached at 905-720-2430 to inquire about their donation drop off schedule.  To learn more about their mission and philanthropy work - Watch This Video.

We are always in NEED of Gift Card Donations  - The Gift of Choice allows our women to choose the items that she and her family need the most

Consider gift cards to local grocery and chain stores (Ex: Walmart, Giant Tiger, Dollarama, Canadian Tire, No Frills, Loblaws, FreshCo, Sobeys, etc) that sell a wide variety of items that our families may need to help get them on their feet after leaving the shelter. On occasion, gift cards may also be used to purchase items that are needed to support our clients while they are still residing in the shelter (e.g., clothing, toiletries, groceries etc for our clients’ use).

Other great local gift card ideas in any denomination include Presto Cards, Oshawa Center, Michaels, Mastermind Toys, Tim Hortons, McDonalds, Dairy Queen, etc

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT GIFT CARDS: Please do not purchase prepaid Visa/Mastercard gift cards to donate.  Most people are not aware that these cards have a monthly fee that is deducted from the balance of the card, which means that often by the time we get around to using the card the balance is MUCH lower (or even at zero) than what you purchased it for originally.

Special Occasions and Gift Giving:

As we are sure you can imagine, even though our women and children are safe from abuse while residing with us, it is not easy leaving your home and living in a Shelter and particularly on special occasions (Mother's Day, Christmas, etc).  The Denise House tries really hard to make their time here as comfortable as possible and even more so on special occasions.  If you are so inclined to help out with donations for these special occasions, please send an email to our donations coordinator at [email protected] to discuss how you can help to make a difference.

Did you know that you can donate a car and the proceeds will go to the charity that you choose? There is no cost to you, and the process is incredibly easy! Donate a Car Canada will facilitate all aspects of your car donation from the pick up to the final sale, ensuring that your vehicle will be sold for the highest sale outcome possible. They will then forward the net proceeds on to us here at The Denise House and you will receive a tax deductible receipt within 2 weeks of us receiving your donation! They make used car donations, car removal, car recycling, or simply junking a car an easy process for you.

The Denise House is proud to be a partner with Donate A Car. Their trouble-free service and expertise allows our donors a convenient way to dispose of their unwanted vehicle, and also support our cause.
