| There are a variety of
different ways in which you can help The Denise House shelter. |
| Donation Centre The Donation Centre
opened it's doors in November 1991 to receive and distribute community
donations of clothing and household items such as bed linens, pots and
pans, dishes, etc. in a fair and equitable manner to the women and
children who seek our service.
Donations are sorted first for our operational and residential needs at
the shelter. The remainder of that donation is set up store fashion for
the women and children who have utilized our programs.
Any part of the donation that we are unable to utilize is donated to
another community agency.
We are always in need of:
- Linens, including sheets, blankets, bedspreads & pillows
- Towels, all sizes
- Kitchen items such as toasters, kettles, irons, clocks, radios,
small microwaves, electric frying pans, pots & pans, sets of dishes,
sets of glasses/mugs, cutlery, dish cloths & tea towels
- Lamps (floor & table), small end tables,
nightstands & alarm clocks
- Gently used seasonal clothing for children and adults
Donors with larger furniture items such as beds, dressers, kitchen
tables, sofas, etc. may call the shelter to place these items on a
donation list for women who are leaving the shelter.
Unfortunately, due to health and safety restrictions, we are unable to
accept donations of used children's car seats, cribs, second hand
stuffed animals, broken toys and soiled clothing..
Donations of new items, (i.e. toys) will be utilized at the shelter for
our special occasion gift giving needs for women and children, such as
birthdays or Christmas.
The Volunteers at the Donation Centre look forward to receiving your
donation at:
455 Bond Street East, Oshawa
Wednesdays - 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
** Please note: The Donation Centre is closed for the
months of July & December. New items are still accepted
at our Business Office during these months. Please call
905-728-7311 to make arrangements. **
